Medical Student Information

Commencement Ceremony: Carnegie Hall

  •  All guests must wear masks inside Carnegie Hall 
  •  Vaccine check will be outside of Carnegie Hall
  •  No catering in the rooms at this point 
  • Live Stream will be available for guests who plan on not attending
  • Audience members only need to show proof of full vaccination, booster not required for Audience only. Vaccine exemptions will NOT be accepted.
  • All guests entering the main entrance—including those under the age of 12—are required to show proof of full vaccination (at least two weeks elapsed since the second dose of a two-dose vaccine or a single dose of a one-dose vaccine) against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization. It is also highly recommended that all attendees receive boosters, based on eligibility determined by the CDC. This includes visitors under the age of 12, with their guardians acting on their behalf. Because WHO-approved vaccines have not yet been made available to children under 5, patrons in this age group cannot currently attend events at the Hall..

  • All student graduates must show proof they are up to date on COVID-19 vaccine and boosters, based on eligibility determined by the CDC to enter the building
  • Vaccine exemptions are not accepted.
  • Face masks must be worn at all times inside Carnegie Hall.
  • Carnegie Hall staff will be on hand to assist any guests who need assistance or in a wheelchair from the lobby to their seats.

Types of vaccination proof Carnegie Hall accepts.

Guest Tickets:
All MD student graduates will be allotted four (4) guest tickets to the ceremony at Carnegie Hall. Commencement will be livestreamed for those who are not able to attend. Additional information regarding ticket distribution and instructions for joining the livestream will be provided at a later date.

 

Student Regalia Information: 
If you plan on graduating this year, you will be receiving a Commencement survey from the Registrar’s office with the link to the Herff Jones website to order your gown and to indicate if you plan on walking at Commencement.

If you did not receive the Commencement survey, please reach out to the registrar’s office. The survey will be going out in the next few weeks.

Regalia:

  • Regalia will be delivered 10 business days after you complete the Herff Jones form
  • You will receive a confirmation from Herff Jones that you have completed the form
  • Deadline to order your regalia will be March 18, 2022 
  • In the regalia box you should receive a Gown, Hood, Cap and Tassel
  • Please bring regalia to Carnegie Hall the day of Commencement
  • You will have the opportunity to hold onto your regalia after commencement until June 1st
  • Please return Gown and Hood to Herff Jones (there will be a return instructions in the box)
  • Students will receive a prepaid label with their gown delivery.  You should return your gown in the same box. You can drop off at any Fedex location or schedule a pick up.
  • You will be able to keep the Cap and Tassel
  • If you lost your pre-paid label or never received one, please email: herffjones@flatworldsc.com or call 636-265-3745. Herff Jones will email you a prepaid label and you can use this on any box to ship back your regalia.  You can also go to  hjreturns.flatworldsc.com to coordinate your return.

FAQs

Financial Aid

Students who have borrowed federal loan funds must complete Exit Counseling online at https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action. If you would like to make an appointment for loan counseling, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 646-962-3479 or finaid@med.cornell.edu.

Regalia 

If you have any issues or questions regarding your regalia please submit your inquiry here.

Regalia Returns: Each student will receive a prepaid FedEx shipping label. You can use any box to package the regalia and place the shipping label on it. You will need to return it to a FedEx drop off location. 

When will I get my diploma?

Diplomas will be mailed to students following the graduation celebrations. Please provide the best mailing address for your diploma to be sent to on the “Intent to Graduate” Survey that the Registrar’s Office provides.
