Veteran’s Educational Benefits Certification and Payments

Enrollment Certification

Once the semester begins and you have been enrolled in coursework, Cornell's School Certifying Officials (SCOs) will certify your enrollment and submit tuition and fee charges to the VA, if applicable. Certifications are submitted no later than 30 days prior to the start of the semester.

Updates During the Semester

Any changes to enrollment and/or tuition and fees are submitted to the VA throughout the semester, as necessary.*

VA Payments

VA Payments are typically expected 3-4 weeks after Cornell submits your certification. Your enrollment and/or tuition is reported to the VA within the first month of a semester. If you have courses with variable start dates, tuition may be allocated to those classes, which may result in tuition arriving in multiple tuition payments arriving later in the term.

*Please understand that if your VA allotment changes at any point in the academic year, you will be responsible for resolving any outstanding balance. The office of student accounting can help you understand your available options ide needed. Be sure to notify both financial aid and student accounting if the VA informs you of any award changes.
